THE LONG STREET TOUR
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2006



The Long Street Tour is a full day of cycling and fitness activities.
There will be elite athletes from all over the world competing in the
Long Street Tour, as well as fitness enthusiasts, beginner racers,
week-end warriors and kids of all ages participating in structured
activities.
The Tour hopes to attract the best cycling athletes in the United
States and Olympians from many different countries to compete for
prize money, television exposure and the "Jerry Hammond Trophy".
All competitive cycling events will take place on a mile course in the
business district. The athletes, depending on their abilities will cover
multiple laps on the race course.
Throughout the day, there will be several community and family
friendly cycling events, one of which will be hosted by a local historic
organization, The Major Taylor Cycling Club and there will also be
a "Family Bike Parade" within the community.
In and around The Historic Lincoln Theater, there will be a
"Vendor Market Place" that will host various food, clothing and
unique items for event goers.
This is also an opportunity to unveil the revived Historic Long
Street District. This event is hosted by The Long Street
Businessmen's Association and TeamColumbus.
